Bellflower Metal Gates fabricates and installs metal gates in Cypress, covering corporate and business park entrances, staff and visitor parking control, yard perimeters and residential driveway gates. We build in steel, wrought iron and aluminum in our own shop, and install the operators and access control that make a gate genuinely usable rather than merely closed.
A large share of the gate work here is not residential. Cypress carries substantial corporate employment, and the requirements that come with a corporate campus differ from both a home driveway and a heavy industrial yard. Employee parking has to be controlled without creating a queue at shift change. Visitors have to be admitted without a permanent gatehouse. Credentials have to be issued and withdrawn as staff join and leave, which quietly rules out any system depending on a physical transmitter being returned.
That last constraint is the one most often underestimated at specification. An arrangement built around handing out remotes works until the population turns over, at which point nobody can say how many are in circulation and the only real remedy is reprogramming every remaining unit. Credential and app-based access solves it by revoking a single user and leaving everyone else untouched, which is why we steer sites with staff turnover toward it even where the initial hardware costs more than the alternative.
Business Park and Corporate Entrances

Entrances Sized for Shift Traffic
An entrance serving several hundred employees is a different machine from a residential driveway gate. It cycles heavily in two concentrated bursts a day, and hardware sized for the daily average fails during the peaks rather than between them. We specify from the cycle count and match the UL 325 class to the application, because a Class III commercial operator is built to duty expectations a Class I residential unit was never intended to meet.
Cantilever Gates on Commercial Openings
Where run-back room exists, a cantilever slide gate suits a commercial entrance well. It carries its weight on truck assemblies running in semi-enclosed track and never touches the driving surface, so there is no ground rail for delivery vehicles to crush and no channel to pack with grit. The constraint is the counterbalance tail, which needs clear space behind the opening, and we check that space is genuinely available and likely to stay clear before proposing one.
Keeping Traffic Moving
A gate that works perfectly but slowly creates a queue into the road, which is the complaint that reaches site management first. Inductive loop detection is what solves it: an exit loop releases a departing vehicle with no driver action, a safety loop holds the gate open while a vehicle is under it, and a shadow loop stops it closing onto a vehicle waiting in the opening. Loops are saw-cut and sealed rather than surface-mounted, since a proud loop does not survive tire traffic.
Reception, Intercom and Visitor Handling
Visitor entrances need something or someone to make a decision. Video intercom lets reception see who is at the gate and release it remotely, while telephone entry routes the call to a specific extension or mobile instead. We position the door station so the camera frames a person at the driver’s window rather than the roof of the car, and check the field of view on site, because a station set at a height convenient for the installer frequently looks at nothing useful at all.

Credentialed Access and Parking Control
Cards, Fobs and Per-User Access
Proximity cards and fobs suit sites with a defined population who need auditable access. Credentials are issued and revoked individually, so a departing employee is removed without touching anybody else’s access and without recovering hardware. We specify readers rated for outdoor mounting and run their cabling in conduit rather than direct-burying it, because a reader is a low-voltage device standing outside in weather and its wiring is reliably the part that fails first.
App-Based and Cellular Control
Cellular controllers carry their own network connection and give a site manager remote release, time-limited visitor codes, per-user credentials and a log of entries. On a business park that log is frequently the whole reason for the upgrade, since it answers questions about after-hours access that no keypad can. These units depend on usable signal at the gate rather than in the office, so we test coverage at the actual post position before specifying one.
Separating Staff, Visitor and Service Gates
Where a site has more than one opening, each usually wants different behaviour and different hardware. A staff gate runs on credentials and cycles constantly; a visitor gate is attended or released remotely and cycles rarely; a service gate opens for deliveries within set hours. Specifying all three identically is the common shortcut and it produces a staff gate that wears out early alongside a service gate carrying access control nobody uses.
Residential and Community Gates
Driveway Gates on Suburban Frontages
Cypress was incorporated in 1956 as Dairy City by local farmers hoping to slow development, and the suburban city that followed grew rapidly through the decades after. The residential frontages that resulted are generally generous and level, which is favourable for gate work: a level approach lets a swing gate be used without the binding a rising driveway causes at mid-travel, and there is usually room behind the leaf for it to open into.
Matching the Gate to the House
We draw to the elevation rather than from a range of stock widths. Arched tops with scrollwork suit Spanish and Mediterranean houses, horizontal slats read cleanly against low mid-century frontages, and a heavy-railed design with widely spaced verticals suits wide, low elevations. Picket spacing is set from the measured opening so the reveal stays even across the leaf instead of collecting the accumulated error at one end of it.
Community and Multi-Tenant Gates
Shared vehicle gates serve people who did not choose the equipment and cannot be trained on it, which changes what good specification means. Reliability matters more than features, the emergency access arrangement has to work for fire and for ambulance, and access has to survive residents moving out without a remote coming back. We treat these as continuous-duty installations, since a gate cycling through every resident twice a day is a commercial application whatever the building is called.
Fabrication, Materials and Handover
Built in Our Own Shop
Every leaf is cut, welded, prepared and coated by us rather than bought in, which changes what happens when something goes wrong. A panel damaged in handling or a joint landing out of square is remade the same week instead of reordered and waited on while an opening stands unsecured. We keep the dimensioned drawing for every gate, so a replacement section years later matches the original rather than approximating it.
Material Choice and Protection
Steel and wrought iron carry a long span stiffly and can be repair-welded after damage; aluminum in 6005-T5 and 6061-T6 extrusion will not corrode and reduces load on the running gear. Steel components are prepared and coated before assembly so joint interiors are protected, with zinc-rich primer at the welds and TGIC polyester powder over the top, and hot-dip galvanizing to ASTM A123 beneath where exposure justifies the additional step.
Standards, Testing and Written Handover
Automatic vehicular gates are installed to UL 325 with two independent means of monitored entrapment protection, and the gate itself is built to ASTM F2200, which governs the pinch and shear points responsible for most incidents. Every installation is run through full travel under load with each safety device tested rather than assumed. You receive a written handover covering operator programming, credential and remote pairing and the manual release.
Checking the Rules That Apply Here
Fence and gate height limits, setback rules and approval thresholds are set city by city, and they differ across neighbouring jurisdictions in ways that catch out contractors working over boundaries. We confirm the rules governing the specific property before a design is drawn rather than carrying a figure across from a nearby city, because a gate refused after fabrication is an expensive way to find out the limits were never identical.
Yard and Perimeter Fencing
Where a Cypress business park backs onto service yards or storage, the perimeter gate carries a different brief again: it is there to resist casual entry, close reliably every night, and survive contact from vehicles manoeuvring in a confined space. We build those leaves heavier at the bottom rail where impact lands, and hang them on ball-bearing or weld-on hinges with grease fittings sized to the leaf rather than to the opening width.
Servicing Gates That Cycle Constantly
Cycle count rather than age decides how a commercial gate wears, which is why we ask about it before quoting and again before scheduling service. Rollers, chain, hinge pins and drive components wear on a schedule that can be anticipated on a high-traffic entrance, and replacing one on a planned visit costs a fraction of the emergency call when it fails at shift change and takes the pinion or the track with it.
